Silver King Ventures Ltd.

Silver King Marine was founded in 1988, by Captain Don Willson.  He came to Port McNeill as a young teenager, and it was there that his roots were planted. The Willson family enjoyed exploring the coast, and  Don developed his knowledge and great love for an area that would prove to be central to his life. Over the years he lived and worked in different coastal logging camps, as well as traveling the coast for many summers as a contract Patrol Officer for Fisheries and Oceans.

Don was working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, when his entrepreneurial instincts got the better of him. The company was named after his 40ft wooden vessel, M.V. Silver King. Starting as a small charter company, Silver King quickly expanded, to include the many different services that Silver King Venture Ltd. now provides. These services include: water taxi transportation for people, freight and kayaks; expertly guided sport fishing, whale and grizzly watching; day trips or over night expeditions; freight hauling via landing barge (including trucks, machinery, building materials, etc.).

Over the last 2 decades Don shared his love for the coast with his family, sharing all of his favorite places, as well as discovering new ones together. This instilled a love of boating in both of his children. Silver King is now a family run venture, as both of his children are involved in the company. His son James is a Water Taxi Operator, and his daughter Jennifer is the Office Manager.
